Ive been keeping an illustrated and written journal for the past four years, I do not add to it everyday but I am near the end. Its a 5×7 black art journal. All mixed media.

I dont even remember how many months ago this project was. You know, ads take a while to come out. I was hired to design a few things for this campaign.
I made the mens plaid robe, matching dogs plaid robe, and two other outfits for the dog.
I was actually pretty excited to see the end result.

Last week I went to a very interesting lecture with my best friend. It took place in the lovely Santa Monica backyard of a painter who has regular guest lectures by accomplished artists.
They have a potluck and you get to see a presentation of the featured artists work, listen to them talk about their work and then ask them questions afterwards.
The featured artist this time was Painter and teacher Steven Assael http://www.stevenassael.com who’s work is obviously just beautiful.
One of my favorite answers to a question after the lecture was this.
The Question was ” What is the most enjoyable form of expression for you?, drawing or painting?”
And his answer ” Neither, It’s not something I enjoy, its something I have to do. A compulsion that I cannot deny. (not verbatim but basically that)
I just thought that was interesting because I feel like this all the time ever since I can remember. I create the things I do out of the compulsion to create, not for any other purpose really.
Its an inherent need deep inside me that I cannot really control.
I know that every artists feels this way.
So anyway, a segue into a few of the head pieces Ive made this week, just because I absolutely had to. If they sit here in my studio forever at least they are out of my system.
I hand cast the resin elements and mixed them with vintage and reproduction vintage millinery ,poppies, beads, hand set crystal and (handmade by me) appliqué.

This week I was shooting my friend Vanessa who is a talented costume designer and general all around renaissance woman. Anyhow I made a special outfit for her to wear.

Along with pink sparkle hand cast antler crown mixed with vintage and repro vintage millenary hand set crystals and beads.
This week I did two well ,technically three portraits for my personal project. Ive know Brittany for quite some time , she photo assisted my very good friend and amazing photographer and artist Michalle X Star.
Brittany also is an Architect and lives in the Los Angeles Area along with her sister Kelsey who is a massage therapist.
I also did the MUAH, its been a while since I’ve done makeup and never do hair really, so give me a little break.
These sisters are so supportive and loving towards one another. It was my pleasure to spend time with them.

This Alexandra who is a hairstylist and lives in the Los Angeles area. I met her for the first time today. She told me she has followed me on social media for a decade. Which is amazing! I asked her why she hadn’t come by my shop before. And she said she would now.
I love meeting people who have followed me forever, in fact have a few people who Ive kept in touch with and become friends with after many years of correspondence. Its one of the things I like about the internet, interacting with and meeting interesting people from all over the world.
It’s always a bit strange to me when I think about it.
Following someones work and never actually meeting them.
Social media, a slight glimpse into someones life. Often times a strangers life that you just feel compelled to observe.
Anyway,If you are in Los Angeles my shop is open M-F 10-7 Saturday 11-6 Sunday by appointment, Im here stop by.
Im still working on practicing photography and trying to get better.

Here are a few images from today of new things Ive made in the past few weeks. I especially love my new oversized sweaters. I designed a new skull and bones for the embroidery and also added embroidered text on sleeve.
Enjoy it. Destroy it. which has been my mantra forever. Basically it means to me: Live life with appreciation, create everyday, rework and destroy it, create something better.
As an artist and designer I am constantly making things scraping them and making something different, usually out of the materials from the first creation.
Life is such a constant ebb and flow that it really is impossible to hold on to any one thing. I just go with it and hope for the best.

Somedays are better than others. I find if Im feeling sad or whatever ,making something just for fun is good therapy. So “Its one of those days ” I made a full length what I would Imagine 60’s Barbie would wear to a cocktail party.

Lately I have been trying to get back into doing more photography. When I was in High school and early college I had my own darkroom and did allot of freelance band photography but that was literally a lifetime ago.
So I have been scheduling every Saturday one or two clients to come in for one look portrait. Im not looking for professional models necessarily , I want all body types and looks. Come camera ready MUAH , I will style you one look.
All free of charge obviously.
