Awesome alright like totally freak me out i mean right on. I love Bring it on. Non related to this post however. I live and was born and raised in California. Here people say the work LIKE allot. Some more than others. “You know i was like on my way to get a coffee and he ran right over my toe, like how rude is that?”
Well besides it making many Californians sound as if they all came from the Valley in the 80’s as my friend Stacy once said to me ” can you try not to say the work like so much it makes you sound dumb”
I do try to catch and stop myself from using that accursed word that so easily fits in as a substitute for the proper word when you cannot think of what that should be, or are just to lazy to think about it for that millisecond before it comes out of your mouth.
This week all my fellow Californians who are guilty of abusing the word like.
Try to keep it out of conversation you will see how much you use it.

When i first moved to Los Angeles i knew three people. Brody was one of them, (and the only person that helped me move into my first apartment here.) It is nice to see her in another project.
She was an amazing force in the Distillers and her new project is transcendental.
Spinnerette: Wednesday June 24th @ the Troubadour.
Do not antagonize the raving. I am always tempted for some reason, but i am quite small and the lunatic is generally quite large.
As i sit on the bottom step of the stairs waiting for the train this morning. There a lunatic bellowing rants which i cannot hear clearly because as usual i have headphones on and do not care what he has to say.
People like to talk just to hear the sound of their own voice allot of the time.
So i try not to speak mindlessly unless i have something to say, excluding casual conversation which is necessary to pass the time frequently.
Sometimes the ranter is really entertaining though.
My favorite example of this:
When i first moved to San Francisco (i believe it was 1994-1995 ) one of my first jobs was at Flax on market street.
I started as a cashier and ended up in customer service information that is not really relevant but on this day i was front cashier.
The store front is all glass and you enter through big glass doors into a large sales floor of many different departments.
One day Wesley Willis & Jello Biafra walk through the front door. Well Jello walks in Wesley sort of bursts in stating in a loud voice ” I am a rockstar, I’m gonna make a load of money”
On repeat.
I checked them out.
Jello-” Hes like a bull in a china shop”.
We had all kinds of random people in and out of that store. It really is a beautiful Art Store. I loved working there.
R.R Crumb’s creepy brother used to come in all the time. I would avoid him not wanting to be pants-ed.
After Flax i ended up working @ Betsey Johnson on Geary for four years.
I could write a book of short stories all the funny and gross things women do in retail stores.
I’ll just put that on my “to do” list.
A diary of the perpetual shop girl.
I have worked allot of retail and many odd and strange freelance jobs in my life.
Yes well me too and i have lived in LA 10 years had yet to find a general practitioner i was happy with . Not like im sick all the time but when i do go to the doctor i : A. want them to actually try to figure out what is wrong with me B. not just give me 120 pills
Well i have been having severe back pain every morning for two months and actually went to my one DR i had been seeing (zero help) and so started asking for referrals. BINGO!!!
Peter Anderson. Examined me asked me detailed questions for 1/2 hour , made me feel reassured that it wasn’t a major condition (i am a bit of a hypochondriac ) and then two days later personally called me to see how my back was and if i was feeling any better.
To some people this may not be a big deal but living in Los Angeles for so long when some one is genuinely compassionate towards me i really appreciate it.
I cant recall any doctor ever calling me to see how i was feeling.
Well except Dr Lui emailed me to see how my skin was once, but i already wrote a blog about his top notch dermatology.
I am so happy i have a new real human as a doctor instead of a robot.
I am just as happy as when i found my dentist who is also AMAZING!!!!
Anyone need any sort of medical, dental, acupuncture , colonic, dermatology, please send me a message i will give you any info you need.
If you need a GP :Dr. Anderson 310 550 3360 Sunset Blvd Los Angeles
No joke don’t even think about challenging these guys to a chop off. They always win.
It is Saturday and i have been at work since 7am, i am determined to be caught up this week because i need to go out of town.
In one of my grade schools ( we moved allot) we occasionally had movie day, where we would all go into the cafeteria and they would play random movies for everyone & GODZILLA AND MOTHRA: THE BATTLE FOR EARTH was one of these movies. In retrospect what a weird choice for a bunch of young kids, but That school Alianza was very progressive and amazing.
They also had fresh tamales for lunch once a month. It was a bilingual school so i learned everything in english and spanish although today i am not bilingual i expect if i re-learned Spanish it would not be as hard as being an adult and starting from scratch.
California Supreme Court upheld Proposition 8 today, banning same-sex marriages. Very sad news indeed. What threat does it pose to conservatives and religious fundamentalist that two people who love each other and want to commit their lives to each other regardless of sex should be able to do so.
Its a civil right issue and denying people inherent human rights just puts us on a backwards track.
There are few truly joyous things in life love being one of them.
It is ok to have a difference of opinion. You may not support same sex marriage but how would you feel if all gay people voted to take away one of your rights and it passed.
How would you feel if one of your freedoms were taken away?
Remember women and African Americans did not even have the right to vote not so far in the past. Its on that level of injustice.
It saddens me that so many people are so narrow minded.
