Opening Saturday one of my favorite artists Joshua Petker.
For this exhibition, Petker expanded his interest in identity and celebrity, and focused on stars from Hollywood’s golden age.
“The first spark of inspiration came after a friend gave me a copy of Kenneth Anger’s Hollywood Babylon,” Petker says. “The book is filled with torrid tales of violence and sex, and it led me to my familiar pondering about how one’s image transcends reality; how it belongs to the culture as a whole, and is thus open for exploitation and interpretation by anyone who feels a relationship with a celebrity’s image.”
Using acrylic and ink, Petker re-imagined Joan Crawford, Audrey Hepburn and Frances Farmer, among others, in his dreamy if haunting aesthetic. In his painting “Ginger Rogers Without Makeup,” the subject is decorated with bursts of color and unsettling smeared lipstick, but the composition is softened by the careful use of textured negative space.

Im actually excited for this show. There are bands playing i like and a ton of amazing wonderful people coming from all over the world i love and cant wait to visit with.

Makani in PinUp Leotard.
Heres a few photos from sets we did ages ago but just received.
Makani Terror who is my favorite tattooed german model and not a terror at all but actually one of the nicest girls i know. So misnomer on the terror part.
Shes wearing a little leotard i made out of the blue pinup fabric.
My other tattooed lady friend who is an amazing tattoo artist and is featured on the new Show NY Ink Megan Massacre, also a misnomer she does not massacre anybody and is a lovely sweet, talented, chipper girl.
In sailor dress & Bow vest. The sailor dresses now have a nicer much fancier handmade cotton bow instead of the satin bow, just fyi.

I was one of the lucky non artists invited to the artist opening of Art in The Streets at MOCA. Which was actually so distracting with all the amazing people mixed with beautiful installations and a span of generations of street artistry that i had to revisit the show this week.
I was a bit disappointed at the Bansky room which looked very thrown together.
If you are going to be in Los Angeles before August its very much worth your time to visit this show. Even for those who are not huge street art fans.

Afterwards we went to Buff Monsters Birthday party. Hes top notch.
All in all one of my favorite art events, in competition only with Bansky barley Legal & Exit through the gift shop premiere.

Last night was the artist opening for the In the Streets exhibit at MOCA. It is so big i couldn’t get through 1/2 of it and we were there for 4 hours. But the distraction of each rooms greatness , the ridiculous amount of celebrities , and the many stop and chats didn’t help,
So ill be going back i recommend any fan of street art or just a fan of installations (like me) go see this show.
One of my highlights was meeting super character actor Jon Gries who has been in many of my all time favorite cult classics. Esp Terror Vision, i told him that. I think he though that was silly, but was very nice.
That was one of many highlights of the opening.
Ill have photos to add later of this event for anyone who cares.
I must say that after living in Los Angeles for 12 years i sort of love it. The culture here underneath the glimmer facade is inspiring.

I was planning on going out tonight but the secret artist party was just to tight of a list sadly. I have gotten to go to the last two major events for that Artist here so im not complaining.
I should be cutting all that fabric behind me into shapes anyway.
